trunk lid/compartment?

good day everyone! I am a new Volvo owner, 2016 xc90 rdesign. was hoping someone can help me find out what should be in the trunk lid/compartment of the new 2016xc90? when you open the tailgate, there is a small compartment that you open with a twist knob. to my surprise, there was nothing in it. so I am not sure if they forgot to put something in there... or is there an accessory to purchase that goes in that spot.?? thank you!

thanks for checking! been doing some research, I think its for the warning triangle that's an optional accessory for the US market. cost cutting I guess...

[/IMG]Yes that is what it's for......Not required in the USA, but overseas some countries require it so they get them and we don't. Here is the info on it.

ECE approved warning triangle. Takes up little room when folded and is very easy to set up and fold away.
Weighs less than ordinary triangles on the market.
Red, prismatic wide-angle reflectors for darkness, fluorescent tape for daylight.
Stable feet, even on slippery ground, enables the triangle to stand fast in heavy winds.

Glad to know everyone else’s empty. I store an umbrella in it 🤣. You have to find the right size but it’s convenient to get to it as you are under the gate.
