Matching dead pedal for R-design brake & throttle pedals: DIY

Returning the orientation of the pedal upgright, the upper left corner of the lip interferes with an OE trim panel that frames the SIM card module. A bit of trimming (as marked) takes care of that:

Matching dead pedal for R-design brake & throttle pedals: DIY

There are 3 hook-like protrusions from the base material. These need to go. Ideally, a hot knife would do the trick. But a careful use of a sharp cutter would work as well. Removing the last one:

Matching dead pedal for R-design brake & throttle pedals: DIY

The VW dead pedal is comprised of a thin stamped metal, and an elaborate looking plastic base that has protrusions that make the horizontal rounded bars. The backside of the pedal shows where the stamped metal mounts itself via 8 pairs of gopher-teeth-like protrusions: In the picture above...

Matching dead pedal for R-design brake & throttle pedals: DIY

Here is the VW dead pedal next to the Volvo metal gas & brake pedals: Upon closer inspection, the VW dead pedal's metal finish is more mirror-like (i.e. finer polish), while the gas & brake pedals' metal finish is more brushed metal-like. Also, while the horizontal black pieces in the Volvo...

Matching dead pedal for R-design brake & throttle pedals: DIY

After adding metal brake & throttle pedals on my Momentum+, the black rubber dead pedal seem a bit out of place. For one, the 2 pedals on the right has metal + black horizontal lines, while the dead pedal is all black with vertical lines. Note: the dead pedal is partially obstructed by the...

Easy install. XC90 R-design trim gas and brake pedals

My guess is they aren't OE pieces, but possibly a direct copy of one. The metal and rubber-like materials appear to be of good quality. I have no idea how long they will remain like that.

Easy install. XC90 R-design trim gas and brake pedals

Thanks. This is one of the easier installs of any parts I can remember.

Easy install. XC90 R-design trim gas and brake pedals

I bought a set of (possibly replica) R-design gas and brake pedals. I didn't look for any manufacturer markings on it; but it doesn't appear to have any. The backside is made of semi flexible rubber like material: The gas pedal just slips in via the channels, while the brake pedal folds...

Need Quick Advice- Air suspension vs standard suspension?

I checked the MY2017 user guide; it seems that the key returns to the 12 o'clock position after either starting (at either ignition positions I or II) or stopping the engine. I think had the key stays on the "start" or "stop" position like a traditional key would, I would really prefer the...

Interesting. That looks quite different from mine (2018 T6 Mom+)

Need Quick Advice- Air suspension vs standard suspension?

I didn't know that they used to have left for the "ignition off". (I got mine in October last year, but there was still a mix of MY2017 and MY2018 units on the lot)

XC 90 upgraded Pilot II to level features of XC60

If I go with the description from this reviewer in a Forbes article (link here), the 2nd gen Pilot Assist no longer requires a vehicle in front to follow. That doesn't seem to be the case with my MY2018 xc90. However, this Volvo global announcement (link here) seem to suggest that all MY2017...

Need Quick Advice- Air suspension vs standard suspension?

I plan to own mine for 10+ years. I wasn't sure about the long term durability of the air bellows in general (i.e. not Volvo specific). Mechanical springs, which the air bellows functionally replace, is quite a lot simpler and will less likely result in long term issues. If the air dryer fails...

2017 Volvo XC90 Redefines Insane With Polestar

The links from Volvo to Polestar websites are a bit obscure. If you go to the accessories shopping section of Volvo, there is a link to polestar: https://www.volvocars.com/us/shopping-tools/shop/accessories But then once you're in polestar, you need to go to the engineered section...

    Sunroof Issues

Hopefully that's the end of your moonroof trouble. Perhaps there is an individual in the service department that is not as careful as they need to be.

Dash Cams - please share your experience !

I took some pictures to better illustrate. While this is for the Z-Edge version I previously mentioned, most clip-on mirror solution will be somewhat similar in terms of installation. It will likely have 2 lines coming out, one to power the recorder and monitor in the mirror, and another to...

    Cross bars

The momentum's rails aren't flush like that of the inscription or the r-design. I believe that's what Thule is referring to.

Dash Cams - please share your experience !

I want to add that the 2nd generation Z-Edge mirror I mentioned earlier use blue colored lighting for their buttons on the mirror, as well as on the 12v socket-to-usb adapter. This matches quite well if your interior accent lighting is set to blue.
