I'm a new member on xc90.org; joined up as a result of ordering my first ever Volvo car this morning.

I've been looking for a replacement for my current company car, an Audi SQ5. Had a number of 24hr test drives, here's my shortlist and comments::

Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid.
+ve Good ride quality (on air suspension)
+ve good handling (on air suspension)
+ve Steering
+ve Very well built / good quality materials
-ve Noise (Hybrid drive whine, petrol engine note)
-ve Poor integration of electric / petrol drive.
-ve Rear leg space, limited rear headroom (with sunroof)
-ve Fuel economy.
-ve Too many fiddly buttons on the centre console.
-ve Sat nav screen too small.
-ve Price.
-ve New model due in 2017

Volvo XC90 Inscription T8 Standard suspension and 21" wheels)
+ve Generally appears to be very well built.
+ve Good use of technology, excellent connectivity etc.
+ve Minimalist design, uncluttered interior.
+ve Excellent drivetrain, incredibly quiet and seamless power delivery.
+ve Interior space and general ambience.
+ve Entertainment system (B&W)
+ve Good price / standard spec.
-ve 'Jiggly' ride on steel springs particularly on poor surfaces.
-ve Rattle under rear seat
-ve Poor fuel economy
-ve 50l fuel tank - resultant range is very bad!
-ve 30% battery charge limit when in 'charging' mode.

Based on the test drives, I decided to order an XC90 with the following spec:

R-Design, T8 Twin Engine
Colour:*720 Bursting Blue
Upholstery:*RC0R Nappa Soft Leather Perforated Contour Sports Charcoal
Alloy Wheels:*22" 5 Double Spoke (Diamond Cut/Matt Black) with 275/35 Tyres
Trim:*R-Design Carbon Fibre Inlays

Packs:

Winter in combination with Head-Up Display in Windscreen
Dynamic Pack
Xenium

Options:

Four Corner Electronic Air Suspension
Parking Camera 360' Surround View
Park Assist Pilot - Automatic Parallel and 90' Parking
4.5m Type 2/Mode 3 Charge Cable
Semi Electric Retractable Tow-bar
Laminated Side Windows
Heated Rear Seats - outer positions 2nd Row
BLIS with Cross Traffic Alert and Rear Collision Mitigation
Head-Up Display in Windscreen (includes Road Sign Information, Set Speed and Navigation)
Apple CarPlay
Sensus Connect with Premium Sound by Bowers and Wilkins with Dolby Pro Logic II Surround Sound, Dirac Live, 18 Speakers/1,400W Output and Subwoofer

Dealer Fit Accessories

Bicycle holder, tow-bar mounted, 3 bicycles
Mud-flaps, front
Mud-flaps, rear

I'm looking forward to Volvo ownership early next year. My dealer told me that there is a slight delay due to problems with component supply particularly those associated with the BLIS system.

I would recomend the Air Suspension to any potential buyer of an XC90, the difference was literally night & day!

I ordered my 2017 R-Design on 7/2/16 and got in 11/16/17. Definitely too long. I doubt I'll be doing factory order ever again.
