07 Volvo XC90

My 07 Volvo XC90 engine has the VVC sensors. The new engine doesn't. It came out of a newer XC90. My question is, if I were to put the newer ECU in place of the old one, should everything work. No check engine light, no problems. If anyone can answer the question, I'd appreciate it
